The story revolves around two princes, the sons of a king, who follow different paths in life. The king, worried about leaving his wealth to his sons, asks an old friend, a hermit, to bury his treasure in his hermitage. The king dies, and the two brothers quarrel over the kingdom. The younger prince, driven out of the city, seeks guidance from the hermit, who has since passed away. The prince decides to follow the hermit's example and leads a life of asceticism. Meanwhile, the older prince becomes king and squanders the wealth, leading to the downfall of the kingdom.

एका उष्ण दुपारी, एक सिंह त्याच्या गुहेत झोपला होता. एक उंदीर सिंहाच्या गुहेत शिरला आणि सिंहाभोवती उडी मारली आणि अशा प्रकारे त्याला जागे केले. सिंहाने त्याला पकडले आणि मारणारच होते. पण लहान उंदराने सिंहाला जाऊ द्या अशी विनंती केली. \"एखाद्या दिवशी मी तुला मदत करेन.\" हे ऐकून सिंहाला खूप आनंद झाला आणि विचार केला, “तो माझे काय भले करू शकेल? \"पण सिंहाने त्याला जाऊ दिले.

काही दिवसांनी काही शिकारींनी टाकलेल्या जाळ्यात सिंह अडकला. त्याने स्वतःची सुटका करण्यासाठी खूप धडपड केली पण लवकरच त्याला समजले की तो अडकला आहे. तो रागाने ओरडला.

लहान उंदराने सिंहाची डरकाळी ऐकली आणि सिंहाला जाळ्यात अडकवलेले पाहून तो जाळ्यात झटकन कुरतडू लागला. उंदराला तीक्ष्ण दात होते आणि त्याने लवकरच सिंहाला मुक्त केले. कथेची नैतिकता आहे: \"मित्र बनवा, मग ते कितीही मजबूत किंवा कमकुवत असो\"
