About Francisco Cue

Francisco Cue is a Business Development Manager at Liquidity Services, where he focuses on investment recovery for oil and gas, energy, and capital projects. He works with supply chain, materials management, and project teams to identify and recover value from surplus and underutilized materials and equipment throughout the capital project lifecycle.

Francisco views investment recovery as an important component of the broader supply chain—helping companies make better use of their resources while connecting surplus industrial assets with buyers and new opportunities through the secondary marketplace.

Hey, everyone. Efrain Garcia here with Allstream Insiders at the ECC Conference with a good friend of mine, Francisco. How’s everything going, man?

Francisco Cue:

Going great. I’m happy to be here in Austin with ECC and with Efrain.

Efrain Garcia:

Yeah, man. It’s been a great event—a great event. We met a couple of years ago.

Francisco Cue:

Yes, the first time.

Efrain Garcia:

What’s your level as a Future Leader?

Francisco Cue:

I’m a second-year Future Leader. I’ve been with the company, Liquidity Services, for about a year and a half now—a little over a year.

Efrain Garcia:

So, when you first came in, you just jumped into the deep end of ECC.

Francisco Cue:

That’s right.

Efrain Garcia:

I see you shaking hands with a lot of people here. What’s your perspective at the PerspECCtives Conference?

I know they say you get out what you put in, and I’ve seen you attending every single event and participating a lot. I feel that it has really helped amplify your personal brand and build some really good connections in the industry.

Francisco Cue:

Yeah. As you said, one of the biggest pieces of advice that my mentor back then, Tyler Moody, gave me was to just put in the work. Always say yes and overcommit before you stand back.

There are always going to be opportunities to network. There are always going to be opportunities to meet people. Don’t be afraid to jump into conversations or groups that you may think are already established. They’re always welcoming, and they’re always open to meeting new people.

Efrain Garcia:

Tell me about Liquidity Services. What problems do you solve, and how do you partner with the capital projects industry?

Francisco Cue:

At the end of a capital project—when the project has been completed or during demobilization —there may be leftover materials and equipment. Where are those assets going to go? Is that a problem for the EPC? Is it a problem for the operator?

That’s something we can take to one of our marketplaces, AllSurplus.com, and actually recover capital and return money to the project.

Efrain Garcia:

Interesting. So, you find a new home for quality products and materials?

Francisco Cue:

Correct. We’re essentially the go-to secondary market for industrial assets.

Efrain Garcia:

So, anything from a rig to a valve?

Francisco Cue:

From a rig to a valve, a pipe, or even an entire refinery.

Efrain Garcia:

Very cool. You’re only a few years out of university, and you’ve already traveled through the oil and gas industry. I tell people that this industry takes us places.

What are some of the coolest places or conferences you’ve experienced? What is one memory you’ve had since joining the oil and gas industry that made you think, “Wow, this is cool”?

Francisco Cue:

I’ve thought about that, actually. One of the coolest places I’ve been to is an Air Force base. I had that opportunity through this beautiful industry and through this organization, Liquidity Services.

Efrain Garcia:

But if you told me what you were marketing, you’d have to kill me, right? Top secret?

Francisco Cue:

That’s right. We can’t tell you what the government is doing.

Efrain Garcia:

How about geographic locations? I understand that you work internationally.

Francisco Cue:

That’s right. We have offices across North America. Our European team works out of the UK office, but we also have offices in South Africa and Asia.

Efrain Garcia:

We had a question earlier about somebody’s legacy. Let’s talk about Francisco’s legacy.

If someone were to go into ChatGPT and type in “Francisco Cue,” what would you want it to say? As you finish this journey and continue through this process, what do you want your legacy to be?

Francisco Cue:

I think, ultimately, it’s about leaving a place better than you found it. That’s something we talk about all the time here at ECC.

It really is about the people and the companies—but especially the people—who transform and move an industry forward. That is ultimately my goal. If I’m able to help people across all sides of the industry make an impact, that is what I want.

Efrain Garcia:

Excellent. Tell everybody something about you. I learned where you were born and raised. How many languages do you speak?

Francisco Cue:

I speak English, Spanish, some Italian, and some Portuguese.

Efrain Garcia:

Very cool. My wife is from Thailand, as you know, so my Spanish is suffering.

Francisco Cue:

But you’re gaining another language.

Efrain Garcia:

I’m learning Thai. Estoy aprendiendo el idioma tailandés.

Francisco Cue:

Muy bien.

Efrain Garcia:

Phasa Thai nit noi—a little bit. I speak a little bit. I usually just eat Thai food and say things that will never save my life, but they laugh about it.
